Nic Manshon

Hi, I’m Nic Manshon. Creativity, for me, started back when I was drawing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and entering Mother’s Day competitions for KTV. I always loved art as a kid and did it as a subject throughout my schooling career.  If I were to be totally honest, I never saw a career in creativity in high school, even though art was my highest marked subject.  Hence, I went to study personal training straight after high school and thereafter worked for Virgin Active for a while. Soon enough I realized that it wasn’t for me. Nonetheless, I believe nothing is lost with learning. After having these feelings to change my career, I started exploring creativity again. That was a good choice! The journey started out at CPUT, studying industrial design and serving at a local church, heading up the media department. After that, I got a scholarship for digital filmmaking at SAE. I never received a scholarship before so I was super stoked to do the course, not rea

Dillion S. Phiri

Greetings, my name is Dillion S. Phiri, a social sculptor, coffee enthusiast & Founder + CEO of Creative Nestlings. To start of I was born in a small town in Zimbabwe called Kwekwe in a township called Mbizo. Little did I know life would lead me to this day where I get to write about myself and still no GQ cover. Anyways I am a father to Wandile & Nikiwe; fatherhood really changed my outlook on life and it really enhanced my minimalist vibes, now I really value time and also have a better understanding on where do I put my energy.

I have been living as a refugee in South Africa for the last 14 years, really pushing myself to change the world around me and that's one of the many factors that led me to co-Found Creative Nestlings with a fellow refugee Jonathan Anzuluni. Building a multi-million rand company has been a roller coaster, lost many friends, lost a lot of money and time; but I gained most of it back and learnt a lot. I have been lucky enough to be joined by my wife Nokulunga early on in building the company once Jonathan left. We are super passionate about youth, creativity, entrepreneurship and the continent and being able to make proper living supporting fellow young Africans is a privilege and has been a super experience.

Personally I am passionate about architecture, product development, filmmaking and print publishing; soon I will quit my current fulltime job and focus on my passions, I would love to change the face and shape of coffee culture and architecture by infusing innovation, using our roots, storytelling and design thinking based on the traditions.

The films I would like to make are more live experience films where I talk share my journey but not just mine but my peers and people that inspire me in different formats - documentary, biographical, fiction, action, series etc. I would prefer all my films be only black and white.

"You cannot be better than me; only different"

This quote originates from a cafe by a well respected coffee legend Daibo and really changed my perspective on life and has allowed me to live my life to be the fullest, I just want to do things differently and I know that's how I can live a dent in this timeline.
