Hi, I’m Nic Manshon.
Creativity, for me, started back when I was drawing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and entering Mother’s Day competitions for KTV. I always loved art as a kid and did it as a subject throughout my schooling career.
If I were to be totally honest, I never saw a career in creativity in high school, even though art was my highest marked subject.
Hence, I went to study personal training straight after high school and thereafter worked for Virgin Active for a while. Soon enough I realized that it wasn’t for me. Nonetheless, I believe nothing is lost with learning.
After having these feelings to change my career, I started exploring creativity again. That was a good choice!
The journey started out at CPUT, studying industrial design and serving at a local church, heading up the media department. After that, I got a scholarship for digital filmmaking at SAE. I never received a scholarship before so I was super stoked to do the course, not realizing what the future may hold.

Junaid Isreal

Many people believe that beauty is only skin deep and this is exactly what I try to achieve every time I put a needle to skin.

My name is Junaid Isreal, I’m a 25 year old tattoo artist residing in the beautiful mother city, I have been tattooing for about two and a half years now and owner of The Baroque tattoo studio located in the southern suburbs. My style of tattooing is manly script with many of my other work being custom designs drawn up specifically for each individual client.

My journey in tattoo industry didn’t begin as one would expect and even though my passion for art started at a young age it wasn’t up until I graduated at the university of the western cape with a degree in Medical bioscience, which is round about the same time I got my first tattoo, that I became captivated by the culture, beauty and history behind tattooing, also the immense meaning and story behind each tattoo, and that when my passion for art moved from pencil to ink.

I taught myself the ins and outs of tattooing, with a little bit of help from already established tattoo artists.  The journey was tough and it was only after a year that I actually started tattooing people, but in the end everything I had to endure was well worth it, just to see that my art brings happiness and in some cases closure into my client’s lives.

I aspire to be the best I can be allowing my art to speak for me, my dream would be to combine my love of tattooing with my medical background bettering the industry in a way that  sometime in the near future tattoos will literally last forever. Until then I’m just enjoying every minute of my life and what I do.

Too conclude. To whoever might be reading this I’ll leave you with this short quote. “Tattoos have a magic and power of their own, they decorate the body and enhance the soul”- Michelle Delio
