Hi, I’m Nic Manshon.
Creativity, for me, started back when I was drawing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and entering Mother’s Day competitions for KTV. I always loved art as a kid and did it as a subject throughout my schooling career.
If I were to be totally honest, I never saw a career in creativity in high school, even though art was my highest marked subject.
Hence, I went to study personal training straight after high school and thereafter worked for Virgin Active for a while. Soon enough I realized that it wasn’t for me. Nonetheless, I believe nothing is lost with learning.
After having these feelings to change my career, I started exploring creativity again. That was a good choice!
The journey started out at CPUT, studying industrial design and serving at a local church, heading up the media department. After that, I got a scholarship for digital filmmaking at SAE. I never received a scholarship before so I was super stoked to do the course, not realizing what the future may hold.

"For the first time in a long time I can say with confidence that I am truly happy and content with my life. The moment I began accepting myself and focusing more on my relationships with the people I love rather than what people think of me, is when I realized how much there is to be thankful for."

My name is Chloe Du Preez, I am a first year currently studying a BA in Psychology and Communication Science at Varsity College. I hope to someday become an Occupational Therapist working with children, once I've spent most of my prime years studying #fun. My goal is to eventually move to Cape Town after my three year degree and finish my studies there before traveling overseas to pursue my career.

Photography has always been a passion and a hobby of mine ever since I was quite young, my family and I would go on walks and I'd always wonder off and admire something I had found or come across on the journey. My saying in life is “capture everything” meaning it’s vital to stop, admire and capture every beautiful moment you come across as many of them are fleeting but a picture makes them eternal. My favourite shots come from sunsets, cloudy skies, an overcast beach, anything that showcases natural beauty in it’s raw state is more meaningful and aesthetically pleasing to me because it tells a story and captures a feeling. Another major hobby of mine is writing poetry, it’s a way of expressing my thoughts and feelings in beautiful words. I publish some of my poems on my tumblr page called Art in the Average (chloe-micaela) and occasionally on my Instagram page.

My favourite poet is Rupi Kaur whom I get most of my inspiration from. I’m looking so forward to my journey and if there’s any advice I could give to other young people it would be to never stop trying to discover and improve yourself. Do what you love and what interests you and count your blessings in stressful times. Positivity is key."
