Hi, I’m Nic Manshon.
Creativity, for me, started back when I was drawing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and entering Mother’s Day competitions for KTV. I always loved art as a kid and did it as a subject throughout my schooling career.
If I were to be totally honest, I never saw a career in creativity in high school, even though art was my highest marked subject.
Hence, I went to study personal training straight after high school and thereafter worked for Virgin Active for a while. Soon enough I realized that it wasn’t for me. Nonetheless, I believe nothing is lost with learning.
After having these feelings to change my career, I started exploring creativity again. That was a good choice!
The journey started out at CPUT, studying industrial design and serving at a local church, heading up the media department. After that, I got a scholarship for digital filmmaking at SAE. I never received a scholarship before so I was super stoked to do the course, not realizing what the future may hold.

I grew up in Cape Town, South Africa and from an early age I was always interested in music and soon it became a huge part of my life. My mother bought me my first electric piano for my 10th birthday and I became attached to it. Every day after school I would come home and practice my own compositions. I then started to sing and before I knew it me and my 3 best friends had a full band and were performing in front of our school at any opportunity we were given.

When I left primary school I slowly gravitated towards being surrounded with musical people and as soon as I got to be in a studio environment, fireworks went off in my head. It was then at the age of 16 where I discovered exactly what I wanted to do with the rest of my life – make music.

I released my first recorded song in 2011 and when I matriculated I got to perform it in front of my whole school. It was a very special moment for me. Soon after that I enrolled into Cape Audio College but after only 1 year I decided to change my direction and rather teach myself everything I know now. I completed a 3 year Finance Degree thereafter.

Currently I have songs on all major radio stations in South Africa and have been fortunate enough to work with some big names in the industry. I aim to help shape the music industry in South Africa and call for all artists to come together as we all strive towards reaching the same goal – getting our music heard around the world. This year I was lucky to be invited to perform in Portugal where I made a lot of great connections.

I am excited about the future and looking forward to improving my craft as an artist and producer and aim to make my mark in the industry.
