Nic Manshon

Hi, I’m Nic Manshon.
Creativity, for me, started back when I was drawing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and entering Mother’s Day competitions for KTV. I always loved art as a kid and did it as a subject throughout my schooling career.
If I were to be totally honest, I never saw a career in creativity in high school, even though art was my highest marked subject.
Hence, I went to study personal training straight after high school and thereafter worked for Virgin Active for a while. Soon enough I realized that it wasn’t for me. Nonetheless, I believe nothing is lost with learning.
After having these feelings to change my career, I started exploring creativity again. That was a good choice!
The journey started out at CPUT, studying industrial design and serving at a local church, heading up the media department. After that, I got a scholarship for digital filmmaking at SAE. I never received a scholarship before so I was super stoked to do the course, not realizing what the future may hold.

My life was changed when I began to truly acknowledge my capabilities, and my blessings. We are the sum total of our experiences, proactivity and positivity within my own, has moved me into a direction that I am loving. I focus on two things, hard work, and letting your light shine, in Marianne Williamson’s words, “Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? But actually, who are you not to be?” I hold onto her words every day, “There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that others won’t feel insecure around you… As we let our light shine, we consciously give other people permission to do the same.”

My name is Victoria Packer, Monkey to my family, which I’ve always hoped is not based on my appearance. When I was younger, I won a hula-hooping contest, they had to ask me to stop, because I just carried on swinging my hips. This perseverance has become a prominent part of my character. I’m currently working towards performing in my Speech-Language and Hearing Pathology Degree at Stellenbosch University, in the hopes of bringing goodness into the world.

Aside from studying, I model part time, which has given me a new perspective on my own body image and confidence. I am an ambassador for Reset Fitness, as healthy living is a passion of mine. I find happiness in nature, photography, writing, laughs with treasured people, and discovering new places. One day you’ll find me on top of Mount Kilimanjaro, a few published pieces of writing under my belt, and a Speech Therapy Practice of my own. I’ll be planning my next adventure after making a difference around Africa with my dream charity organisation, Operation Smile. I’ve also made it when I can afford to buy myself a Land Rover of my own, as well as all of it’s trips to the mechanic.

I see myself as a leader, being independent and living with a higher purpose excites me. Colossians says “In every thing you do, work at it with all your heart, as if working for the Lord and not human masters.” I aim to excel in everything I take on, from my Sunday lunch recipes to Class Representative, to Miss Maties Varsity Cup Second Princess. Prayer, and a continuous stream of coffee gets me through all of my commitments, and each moment of my day is put to use.

From Aupairing in San Francisco and time spent traveling, I value open-mindedness, originality and innovation, and am passionate about exposing the beauty in our world. I say yes to opportunities, and create my own, all the while keeping my sense of humour, kindness and a grateful heart. There is simply no time for mediocrity, I vow to do nothing less than shine.
