Hi, I’m Nic Manshon.
Creativity, for me, started back when I was drawing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and entering Mother’s Day competitions for KTV. I always loved art as a kid and did it as a subject throughout my schooling career.
If I were to be totally honest, I never saw a career in creativity in high school, even though art was my highest marked subject.
Hence, I went to study personal training straight after high school and thereafter worked for Virgin Active for a while. Soon enough I realized that it wasn’t for me. Nonetheless, I believe nothing is lost with learning.
After having these feelings to change my career, I started exploring creativity again. That was a good choice!
The journey started out at CPUT, studying industrial design and serving at a local church, heading up the media department. After that, I got a scholarship for digital filmmaking at SAE. I never received a scholarship before so I was super stoked to do the course, not realizing what the future may hold.

Amber Tak

My name is Amber. I am 25 years old.  I have certainly lived a rich and colourful journey to date.

I am currently studying Creative Brand Communication (Graphic design/Art direction) at AAA Advertising School in Cape Town, although it’s not something I’d imagined I’d ever do as I originally studied Fashion Design. I never expected to love it so much and to learn something new each day. I am older than my peers and paying my own way through college, thus I feel like I take this degree very seriously. Each month it’s a struggle to make ends meet but I’m hoping it will be worth it in the end.

My style is influenced by my travels and growing up moving from place to place, constantly exposed to new places and faces. I think I moved about 15 times as a child/teenager growing up. All this has changed me - I now crave adventure and get bored of being in one place too long. I’ve been living in Dubai for the past three years, now Cape Town, after I’m done studying who knows where’s next. I’m a bit of a style chameleon and go through phases. I’ll dress minimally the one day and colour clash the next. Good quality fabric is important to me when buying clothes. It makes me feel comfortable. Each day is a new day to dress up and express myself.

Issues that hugely affect me are feminism or a lack thereof. Violent hate crimes against women in South Africa seem to be a huge problem at the moment and it really affects me on a personal level. I’m tired of constantly watching my back and I am heartbroken for all the women’s lives that have been taken or destructed by men. I long for a day where we can all be equal on the streets as well as in the work place. What the world is lacking is love and human connection. We have become to desensitised to everything around us that human connection seems to be the last thing on anyone’s mind.
