Nic Manshon

Hi, I’m Nic Manshon.
Creativity, for me, started back when I was drawing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and entering Mother’s Day competitions for KTV. I always loved art as a kid and did it as a subject throughout my schooling career.
If I were to be totally honest, I never saw a career in creativity in high school, even though art was my highest marked subject.
Hence, I went to study personal training straight after high school and thereafter worked for Virgin Active for a while. Soon enough I realized that it wasn’t for me. Nonetheless, I believe nothing is lost with learning.
After having these feelings to change my career, I started exploring creativity again. That was a good choice!
The journey started out at CPUT, studying industrial design and serving at a local church, heading up the media department. After that, I got a scholarship for digital filmmaking at SAE. I never received a scholarship before so I was super stoked to do the course, not realizing what the future may hold.

Tamsyn Jack

My name is Tamsyn Jack. I am 20 years of age and would describe myself as an aspiring mermaid and tea enthusiast.

Aside from that, I am a food science student at Stellenbosch University. Most people don't know what food science is, but it is one of the largest and fastest developing fields on the planet as food is an essential part of our survival and happiness. I only heard about food science in my matric year. I was on my way to study dentistry at UWC when I found that I was also accepted for food science at Stellenbosch. I felt God pulling on my heartstrings and I made the last minute switcheroo. I could honestly spend hours in the magical world of Woolies or Dischem's health product aisles (let's not even get started on Wellness Warehouse).

I cross paths every day with students who are essentially lost, studying a degree they hate, struggling to find the motivation to get through the pressing academic challenges we are faced with every day. I am grateful enough to really be enjoying my degree. I am passionate about re-routing agriculture's impact on the environment by developing sustainable food products/processes that are safe, nutritious and affordable and if you tell me I can't check all of those boxes, I'll tell you that that's just a lame excuse to be lazy.

I am a creative person. I enjoy cooking, painting and playing around with ideas. I couldn't live without Pinterest and TedTalks. I am taking somewhat of a break from modeling this year to focus my energy on my studies, but I hope to be back and in full force in 2018. I like to be spontaneous and I spontaneously entered for Sarie Voorbladgesig in 2016 and Miss Maties Varsity Cup, making the top 10 for both, along with many amazing friends.

Society does this ugly thing where it places too much importance on what you look like. Being beautiful has so much more depth to it than just your outer appearance. We are teaching young girl's dangerous message when we post half naked pictures on Instagram and this photo gets infinitely more likes than other sorts of photos.

I think the concept of self-love is beautiful, but I prefer living for others. Doing something for myself of great, but putting a smile on someone else's face is just the next level. People who have the ability to walk around, making everyone around them feel good about themselves and never demanding any sort of attention or something in return inspires me.

I believe in being unapologetically honest and raw with people. I am a shy person, but I love meaningful one-on-one conversations over a cup of tea or coffee. I am the most awkward person when it comes to small talk, but I love hearing how people think. I love seeing how diverse, yet beautiful, people can be.

In this delightfully chaotic world, I like to surround myself with light-bringers. People who turn the most mundane things into the greatest adventures. People who crack you open, uplift and expand you. It's also so important to be that person for other people as well. Someday, I hope to be traveling the world and using my education to improve the quality of life of others.
